John Ralls' Masonic Jewel

Although Ralls was Grand Master from 1846–1847, the Past Grand Master jewel was not present until 1861. It is one of the first presented by the Grand Lodge. It consists of a square and quadrant surrounding the Forty-Seventh Problem of Euclid; on the triangle is the All-Seeing Eye; on the squares raised on the sides of the triangle are the dates, “May” and “5861.”  On the hypotenuse below are engraved the two pillars, the letter “G,” Sword pointing to a naked heart, sun, moon, stars, trowel, altar, two right hands clasped, and the checkered pavement; engraved around the sides of the square is the presentation inscription “Presented by the M. W. Grand Lodge of A. F. and A. Masons of Missouri to M. W. John Ralls, Past Grand Master, In Token of fraternal regards.” The obverse shows the Keystone of the Royal Arch Chapter on the square formed on the hypotenuse, on the other squares, the words “Friendship” and “Morality,” while on the triangle itself “Brotherly Love.”
