The Missouri Masonic Research Library was dedicated on September 23, 2012. It was originally established by the Missouri Lodge of Research. The Missouri Lodge of Research has a rich history dating back to its founding, with its dispensation and charter signed by Grand Master Harry S. Truman. MWB Truman would go on to be Master of the Missouri Lodge of Research in 1950 while still serving as President of the United States. The care and management of the Missouri Masonic Research Library transferred to the Masonic Home of Missouri in 2020. As with the Masonic Museum, the Masonic Home of Missouri is dedicated to the history of Missouri Freemasonry in the library.
The Missouri Masonic Research Library houses a collection of more than 10,000 books spanning over four centuries, with a strong focus on 19th-21st century publications. Organized into key sections, the Library includes proceedings documenting records of the Grand Lodge of Missouri and other Masonic bodies worldwide, as well as periodicals such as newspapers and magazines produced by Masonic organizations, both of which serve as valuable research resources. The broader collection features historical works, biographies, and Masonic literature. In addition, the Library preserves the extensive Ray V. Denslow collection, which includes his writings, correspondence, and personal reflections, offering insight into his influential role in Freemasonry. A dedicated display for the Missouri Lodge of Research highlights founding documents and personal artifacts, including correspondence between notable figures like Harry Truman, showcasing the efforts to document and preserve Missouri’s Masonic history.
The Missouri Masonic Research Library is available by appointment Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., when the Masonic Complex is open. If you are interested in an appointment, please call the Masonic Home at (800) 434-9804 or fill out our form below.
